Chapter 26
THE TWELFTH REVELATION
The 12th Revelation
"It is I, it is I"
"It's me, it's me"
And after this our Lord shewed Himself more glorified, as to my sight, than I saw Him before [in the Shewing] wherein I was learned that our soul shall never have rest till it cometh to Him, knowing that He is fulness of joy, homely and courteous, blissful and very life.
After this, our Lord appeared to me more glorified than I had seen him before [in the Showing]. In this Showing, I learned that our souls will never rest until they come to him. Then they will know that he is the fullness of joy, welcoming and gracious, blissful and true life.
Our Lord Jesus oftentimes said: I it am, I it am: I it am that is highest, I it am that thou lovest, I it am that thou enjoyest, I it am that thou servest, I it am that thou longest for, I it am that thou desirest, I it am that thou meanest, I it am that is all. I it am that Holy Church preacheth and teacheth thee, I it am that shewed me here to thee. The number of the words passeth my wit and all my understanding and all my powers. And they are the highest, as to my sight: for therein is comprehended—I cannot tell,—but the joy that I saw in the Shewing of them passeth all that heart may wish for and soul may desire. Therefore the words be not declared here; but every man after the grace that God giveth him in understanding and loving, receive them in our Lord's meaning.
Our Lord Jesus often said: I am he, I am he: I am the highest. I am the one you love. I am the one you delight in. I am the one you serve. I am the one you long for. I am the one you desire. I am the one you seek. I am all. I am the one Holy Church preaches and teaches you about. I am the one who showed myself to you here. The number of these words is beyond my mind, my understanding, and all my powers. As I see it, they are the highest words. For they contain, I cannot say what. But the joy I saw when they were revealed surpasses all the heart may wish for and the soul may desire. Therefore, these words are not explained here. Instead, let each person receive them according to our Lord's meaning, through the grace God gives them to understand and love.
